Week 9 - The technophile if the future will be very cool I bet!

Obviously with technological advances increasing each year with us to have the ability to do more, the ones of 2020 are hard to think of at this point in time.
However I can’t see that the world will be one big city with flying car clogging the skies. The universities will still have the usual features such as lectures and seminars of which will be carried out in person. However I can imagine that the majority of work, such as assignments, in all courses will be completed digitally, such as through typed out or drawn out on some kind of super advanced software compared to the ones of today.
That would be my interpretation anyway, is too hard to predict the future!

  1. What's happened to the rest of the tasks for week 8?

"6) In your blog, write a paragraph (or two) about your disagreements with each article -don't give away the proper name and title yet!"

Plus all the red tasks that can be posted by now?

  3. Your interpretation is very different to other posts i've read and my post drew. Maybe I got a little carried away with the ideas of gadgets etc. After reading yours i've realised that 2020 is only 11 years or so away, where as my interpretation was probably a little 'out there' ( I think I assumed it was further away than a decade!!), and I guess the ideas of movies etc got me a little carried away too haha!

Your interpretation seems much more realistic, especially when you've mentioned the idea of meatspace lectures still occuring. I agree with your idea of assignments etc being completed and submitted digitally. Do you think that some subjects may turn to online modules instead of meatspace ones?

I do however think University will be very different from what it is now. It's hard to imagine/detrmine what it is going to be like, Watch this space I guess! :) x

  4. To be honest that was one of my main points, that a lot of the future work will pass over to the web, and yes, maybe the whole unit.
You could say that we in 2009 are the guinea pigs with this unit mostly taking place online.

So with the internet advances for those in 11 years, this possibility is certainly not out of the question.

At least when that time comes, we can look back and say we did it the proper way! x

  5. In that case, as technically not everything is digital to do with academics yet, is there really such a thing as a technophile at the present time??
